Bootleg itself gives no recording information beyond "Live in Europe 1994." "Danke schön" is used throughout the stage banter, so it was definitely recorded in a German-speaking country, probably Germany itself. I have been told the boot is from the Stuttgart show mentioned above, but I can't verify this.

Track 10 fades out at the end.

"This Mortal Coil" is dedicated to Sadist, who opened for Carcass at the Italian shows on this tour.

All bootlegs with the "Flesh Ripping..." demo I've seen, including this one, switch the order of "Psychopathologist" and "Die in Pain," making me think they were perhaps out of order on the original tape. Anyone know?

Other than "Die In Pain," which only lasts a few seconds anyway, all songs from the "Flesh Ripping Sonic Torment" demo were rerecorded later; obviously some had songtitle changes though:

"Limb from Limb" was retitled "Frenzied Detruncation." "Rotten to the Gore" became its own subtitle under the new moniker of "Pyosisified." "Necro-Cannibal Bloodfeast" became "Feast on Dismembered Carnage," and after a complete change of lyrics, "Face Meltaaargh" became "Mucopurulence Excretor."

The "Symphonies of Sickness" demo is listed as being from '89, but all my old tapetrading lists consistently list it as '88, so I'll go with that.

The sound quality for tracks 20-25 is average to poor; at times the vocals can be hard to hear, and at others everything becomes a wall of noise. It sounds like there's an audio hiccup during the introduction to track 23, as a split-second of the stage banter is repeated. The stage banter to track 24 also sounds like it was edited, and there's an edit between the last two live tracks--track 25 abruptly begins before "Reek of Putrefaction" has fully completed.

Tracks 26-28 are instrumental (except for a quick moment after "Embryonic Necropsy and Devourment").

No date or recording information is given on this bootleg apart from the "88" in the title, though the location is obviously somewhere in the UK. At the end of track 2, Bolt Thrower are thanked for providing drums and Paradise Lost for providing an amp; this is likely a recording from a show with all three bands. Recording is a bit bass-heavy and vocals often seem low in the mix, but overall it's a good set of early material from the first 2 albums. Most of the stage banter/crowd noise is hard to hear, so you'll have to turn the volume way up.

It sounds like track 9 is (jokingly?) introduced at first as "Reek of Purification."

No location and no specific date beyond 1992 are given. Since "Danke schön" is used in the stage banter, they're clearly in a German-speaking country, so I'm assuming it's from the same show as the Entombed bootleg on the same label.

At the start of the gig, the spoken intro from "Inpropagation" is played. Even though they play most of the "Necroticism..." album, this is the only one of the spoken intros used.

There is a cut/jump at 4:09 of track 9--since it's right before the encore, I'm assuming the cut was just dead time waiting for the band to come back on stage.

Very good sound quality, although sometimes the vocals are a bit hard to hear.

"Genital Grinder" is supposed to flow continously into "Regurgitation of Giblets," but here there's an audio break at the track index, right in the middle of the word "Regurgitation."

The "Symphonies of Sickness" demo is again listed as being from 1989.

Track 22 cuts off slightly early.

When buying this I assumed this would probably just be sourced from the "Flesh Ripping Symphony" CD above. While the demos and reh. on both are the same material, it sounds like they're from a different source here, as the audio on the "Flesh Ripping Symphony" boot is a bit more vibrant, and here it's more subdued. There are also minor track length differences between the two (due to different amounts of editing at the beginning/end of each track).

5. Embryonic Necropsy & Devourment 5. Reek Of Putrefaction
6. Swarming Vulgar Mass Of Infected Virulency -- --
7. Reek Of Putrefaction -- --

Show from the Grindcrusher tour. Distorted Harmony's first release was a 7" with "Embryonic..." and "Swarming..." from this show. These tracks also appeared later on the "Distorted Harmony 1989-2000" comp. CD. So I guess almost 20 years later, Jose Adolfo chose to release more of this gig on CD. The front and back cover of the EP are printed in the CD booklet. Ironically though, the unnamed bonus track from the original EP ("Pungent Excruciation" from a February '89 show at the University of London) is not included here.

There's also a red vinyl bootleg version of the 7". I'm not sure what's with the numbering system here, as the actual "DH 05" is of course the Thou Shalt Suffer EP.

There are audio breaks between all tracks. At the end of track 4 Jeff Walker thanks the crowd, and when track 5 starts you hear it repeated again.

The sound cuts out at 3:59 of track 1 for about 3 seconds.

There's no guitar for several seconds on track 2 starting at 3:02--sounds like there was actually some sort of guitar problem rather than an audio source problem. There's also a drop out at 6:44 for a split second.

Of course at this time Jeff Walker had the double microphone setup going so his vocals could be pitch shifted. While I think the distorted vocals make some of the stage introductions cool-sounding in a campy way, they're extremely artificial and intrusive as actual vocals on most of these tracks. Even though I still didn't like them, the pitch shifted live vocals in the live footage I've seen from other Grindcrusher era shows never bothered me as much; I don't know whether because the audio is pretty good here that they stand out as being more obvious, or if this was just a shitty gig for them. I find the songs where the altered vocals are more subtle, like "Swarming Vulgar Mass...," or aren't used much, like "Embryonic...," are a bit more enjoyable. Unfortunately, when the vocals aren't being pitch shifted, as with most Carcass bootlegs, they're rather low in the mix.

Despite its shortcomings, this is the best-sounding boot I've heard from their '80s gigs.

A "Symphonies of Sickness" era bootleg with extremely lo-fi b/w layout. No recording information or tracklisting is given. Everything is indexed as a single track, so I have included approximate song start-times above. Yet again, "Danke schön" is used constantly, placing the location in Germany or a German-speaking country.

The intro is most of Dead Can Dance's "Summoning of the Muse" played over the PA.

There is a fade-out at 45:03, and the music fades back in a second later.

Although it's almost certainly from the same tour, this doesn't seem to be the same gig as either the "Cerebral Tumor" or "Exhume to Consume" boot LPs on Headache. If I remember, the "Cerebral Tumor" gig had some sort of guitar problem that was mentioned in the stage banter. Nothing like that here. I haven't heard the "Exhume to Consume" LP, but if the tracklist is correct, there are some slight setlist differences. So unless there were edits or song order rearrangment, that's not the same gig either.

Beware, as I've seen at least one CD-R copy of this with photocopied inserts, though I'm not sure if it was mass-produced, or someone was just selling off an homemade dub. While the simple insert/layout of this bootleg make it easy to photocopy and reproduce, the backside of the original insert is printed black. A tape version of this bootleg also exists.

All recording/date information is in the booklet--the back insert only has a tracklisting. Tracks 1-5 are (incorrectly) mentioned as being live in Tokyo, Dec. 15, 1992, and no specific date is given for the Bradford tracks.

I was skeptical about the '92 year for the first 5 tracks, as I read "Carnal Forge" wasn't even played live until 1993. These are the 5 live tracks from the Japanese-only "Best of Carcass" double-CD in a rearranged order. Tokyo is mentioned in the stage banter for "Carnal Forge." I don't actually have the 2CD, so I'm not sure what location the other 3 tracks are from, and I gleaned the dates off someone who did own it, so I can't personally verify them. Here the tracks have breaks between them, and it sounds like the stage banter/crowd noise is somewhat edited to make them seem continuous. I'm not sure if this is the case on the 2CD.

Tracks 6 and 7 are originally from the "Live St. George's Hall, Bradford 15.11.89" EP on Distorted Harmony (the original vinyl pressings had a 3rd track from another '89 show in London). These same 2 tracks are also on the "Distorted Harmony 1989-2000" compilation CD and the "Live at St. George's Hall" bootleg above.

At 3:27 of track 11, the audio "skips" repeatedly until the track ends. It appears all copies have this flaw.

This is a relatively useless newer bootleg. The layout ideas might have been nice if they weren't done with ugly pixelated graphics and awful Photoshopping jobs. Somewhat convenient as a compilation if you don't have the live tracks in any other format, but the Peel Sessions and "Tools..." EPs have been included as bonuses in various places and aren't particularly hard to find, and the sound fuck-up in track 11 just makes the bootleg even worse. Definitely for collectors only.

Later CD version of the split bootleg LP. The CD uses a cropped/modified version of the LP artwork (the LP cover had both bands' logos) for one side of the insert. The other side has the artwork shown above (does anyone know what this is from? It seems familiar...Signature looks like "Kromer" or "Hromer" '89). No recording information is given on the CD version at all, but the original LP mentions the Carcass side is from "Planet X - Liverpool UK 1987." The June 4th date mentioned above is a possible date but I can't confirm it. I've also seen claims (which I can't verify) that this was the band's first live show.

Tracks 14 and 19 don't seem to have vocals.

Tracks 13, 15, and 20 are listed under their old demo names because the lyrics clearly correspond to the older versions (track 20 is even introduced as "Face Meltaaargh"). Track 19 has the intro riff from "Limb from Limb" on the demo that the album version of "Frenzied..." does not.

Track 13 has some sort of intro part; I think it may be a really awful version of the beginning of "Fermenting Innards."

Despite the repetition of tracks, I didn't notice any breaks, edits, gaps, or even changes in sound quality, so I think it's all a single show.

Sound is pretty bad but not unlistenable. Some of the songs are played at noticeably slower tempos, and as a whole the set is pretty sloppy (not totally unexpected, though--you get a warning of what's to come at the beginning of track 12).
