A Midsummer Night's Dream
Live UK "Fear Of A Black Metal Planet" tour 1993
Label unknown

1. Into The Infinity Of Thoughts
2. I Am The Black Wizards
3. The Burning Shadows Of Silence
4. Night Of The Graveless Souls
5. Towards The Pantheon
6. Cosmic Keys To My Creations & Times [sic]
7. Wrath Of The Tyrant
8. Inno A Satana
9. Beyond The Great Vast Forest

Recorded live on the 1993 tour with Cradle Of Filth. Bootleg itself gives no recording information other than the year. There were multiple UK gigs and some were taped, but there's nothing that positively identifies this as a specific show.

Material itself is a below average audience recording with some slight recording clicks. The crowd chatter between tracks is very loud and sometimes partially interferes with song introductions and stage banter. Not a good recording by any means, but all songs are recognizeable and it's certainly not unlistenable.

From the tour with Bal-Sagoth and Nocturnal Breed (Emperor also played Rotterdam on June 8th with Limbonic Art, but there's no reason not to believe the listed date on the bootleg).

Track 1 begins right before the lyrics start. Track 8 is just the intermission before the encores; "Opus A Satana" is played over the PA.

There is a possible edit/jump before "When Strength I Burn" begins, because the song suddenly starts in the middle of guitar feedback. There might also be some kind of drop-out or edit between tracks 10 and 11, as the guitar feedback stops for a moment.

Soundquality isn't great but it's listenable. There are some sound oddities such as crackles scattered throughout the audio. The performance itself isn't particularly good or bad, although I think the clean vocals are particularly awful for this show. Since they play exactly the same set, I would recommend the "Live in Frostland" bootleg over this if you're a fan of the "Anthems"-era stuff, as it comes off as a more energetic performance and has better stage banter. In my opinion this is the worst of the Emperor bootlegs overall.

The bootleg is vague on the live date/location, only mentioning it as being recorded in Scandinavia during the winter of 1997. Ihsahn mentions they're in Finland in the stage banter, and you can also hear audience members talking in Finnish. I have been told that the Helsinki show (with Enochian Crescent opening) listed above is correct by an attendee who listened to the bootleg, but I cannot verify this. There are breaks between tracks. Overall, just an OK audience recording.

Track 12 is the same Celtic Frost cover as below.

This is a bootleg version of the official Wild Rags cassette re-release of the demo. While the back insert and CD have the Wild Rags logo, it was not made by Wild Rags--the bootleg simply reuses most of the Wild Rags tape packaging for the layout.

All of the main demo tracks and the entire "As the Shadows Rise" 7" have since been reissued on CD. However, it is interesting to note that the intro on this CD differs from the one on the remastered "Wrath of the Tyrant/Emperor MLP" reissue. The Wild Rags tape used a different intro and outro than on the original demo. I'm not sure if the special Wild Rags tape intro is otherwise available on CD format.
